How online learning is not the only way to learn on the go - Margaret Buj - Interview Coach

How online learning is not the only way to learn on the go - Margaret Buj - Interview Coach Whether you had a little or a lot of experience with online teaching, chances are that you did not enjoy it as much as teaching in person. Maybe you didn’t feel the chemistry after an interactive face to face class. Maybe you didn’t experience that fizz after a particularly interesting and interactive lecture. According to a recent survey, only 9% of academics prefer to teach completely online. However, the era of digital transformation and adaptation requires a different perspective on this matter. Many academics still don’t see the value of online classes and are not trying to keep up with technology updates. Most of us don’t know how to approach online or may not be motivated to overcome the obstacle. More likely â€" you may not feel like you have the time to train yourself. From the student’s point of view, online learning techniques and tools provide a more effective and informal approach to education. Particular skills and knowledge are on demand, and professors have to find their silver lining between virtual and school classrooms. This time of progressive technology provides an opportunity to conceptualize a method that is different from what happens in the classroom. We can invite students, and even a wider audience to learn a particular skill. On the bright side, curiosity and passion to learn new things among students and people is very encouraging. Creative and engaging assignments which invite students to be involved in regular practice or creation, will deliver mental-health benefits to face these stressful and challenging times. Teacher and tutors in all subject areas can follow these guidelines while planning their online teaching strategy: Practice a skill you are interested in: As you do that, consider keeping a log of your practice hours (pictures or video log). Create an audio, video or diary about the practice period and why is it important to you. Think about your practice routine and how it has pushed you to demonstrate discipline, openness to feedback, listening skills, attention to detail or any other transferable skill. Follow your curiosity â€" Were there things you wanted to learn, books you wanted to read, places you wanted to visit or skills you wanted to improve? Is there a topic you are curious about, or making a research on your own? Perhaps you’ve been saving for that trip to Vegas and willing to try your luck on the slot machines. There are plenty of online slots games you can explore and check the design and story behind it. At online gaming websites like SlotsWise, Book of dead is among the favourite themed games which covers the symbols and mysteries of Egypt. Maybe you wanted to attend a design course and now are curious to learn more about styles and patterns. Now is the time to pay attention to your passion for cooking and food decoration. Teachers can adjust requirements about the learning sources and how students should present their research according to the subject, grade level and creativity. Find a spot where you can observe nature â€" If possible, return to this spot each day for at least 20 minutes. Even if you just sit on a bench or take a walk in your neighbourhood, keep going in any weather condition. Describe your experiences â€" what you see, hear, smell and feel. Try drawing what you see and feel, it’s good for your creative expression. Plant a seed or a sprout, keep track of the changes and watch how it grows. Final Words   Teachers can give students specific journal assignments each day or allow them to choose how they will write. These types of assignments can’t replace the school material and the classroom approach. However, they will affect students’ passion for learning new things and their opinion about studying â€" who says that it’s always boring, right? Time spent on these pursuits will feel meaningful to students. When they share their work with classmates, they will learn more about one another. Even teachers will have a chance to get to know them more deeply. The experience says that when we invite students to pursue their passion and feel a connection and meaning, they will surprise us with their creativity and generosity. Let’s open the doors and mind for them to do that.
